Canadians will gather to mark the 10th year Anniversary of the Boxing Day Tsunami
Toronto (December 18, 2014) – The 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami took the lives of over a quarter of a million people and left two million homeless across thirteen countries, largely from Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka. To commemorate the 10th year of this tragic event, the Canadian Tamil Congress in collaboration with several other community organizations will be hosting a memorial.
The event will include speeches from survivors of the disaster, elected representatives and community leaders, and cultural performances by youth. Survivors present at the event will be available for the media.
