Canadian Tamil Congress Congratulates Tamil Nadu Government

Canadian Tamil Congress congratulates Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and the Tamil Nadu government for sanctioning Indian Rupees 10 cores towards the establishment of Tamil Chair at the Harvard University in USA.

Dr. Vijay Janakiraman and Dr. S. Thirugnanasambandam of the USA initiated the Harvard Tamil Chair project with their generous donation of $500,000 each. In support of establishing a Harvard Tamil Chair the Canadian Tamil Congress hosted Yagnaseni Musical Dance presented by Niro Dance Creations in July 2016 and Agni Musical Show in October 2016 and facilitated donations over $65,000.

The total cost of the Harvard Tamil Chair project is US$ 6 million of which US$4.5 million have been pledged or collected to date.  Tamil Chair Inc., an organization established to oversee the establishment of Harvard Tamil Chair is actively working to collect the remaining US$1.5 million from global Tamil community to realize the great promise symbolized by the Tamil Chair.  To this end, every Tamil around the world has an opportunity to contribute to this noble project and be personally involved in the history of Tamil Chair at Harvard.
